Real-time arranger workflow
Styles, intros, variations, fills, endings, split keyboard, OTS-style setups and live sound control are arranged around playing now.
In development · Target launch Saturday 7 November 2026
Play your MIDI keyboard with a full accompaniment behind you. Familiar arranger controls, your choice of sounds and styles, and the freedom to enjoy the performance.
An exciting development
ArrangerX is working with a long-established British specialist in arranger keyboard software, whose extensive catalogue is believed to be among the largest of its kind in the world.
With decades of experience supplying styles for much-loved keyboard brands, this exciting relationship could help bring a rich library of musical accompaniments to ArrangerX, while exploring new possibilities for owners of physical arranger keyboards.
Early technical evaluations and discussions are underway. We'll share more as compatibility testing and licensing arrangements progress.
The whole idea, in four words
Choose your sound, choose your style, and make music. ArrangerX brings the familiar arranger keyboard experience to your computer.
Built for players
ArrangerX keeps the arranger controls you expect and removes the complexity you do not need.
Styles, intros, variations, fills, endings, split keyboard, OTS-style setups and live sound control are arranged around playing now.
Familiar performance controls keep your attention on the music.
Load compatible SoundFonts and styles from your own collection, and keep your favourites close to hand.
V1 focuses on live playing, with the controls you need within reach.
Premium Piano Mode
Play Salamander Grand Piano V3 in a beautifully focused full-keyboard experience. The accompaniment controls slide away, leaving you free to enjoy the music.
Your sounds. Your styles.
ArrangerX is the instrument you play. The SoundFonts and styles you choose give it its character.
Start with the included sounds, then add compatible content from your own collection. Sound and accompaniment quality will vary with the files you load.
Our current SoundFont selection includes FluidR3 GM and MuseScore General HQ, two General MIDI sound libraries. Salamander Grand Piano is reserved for Piano Mode and is not shown as a normal selectable library. You can also load other compatible .sf2 SoundFonts from your own collection. Sound and effect reproduction may differ from the original hardware, and full GS or XG compatibility is not guaranteed.
Updated 10 October 2026. These are development test results, not a promise that every style from a manufacturer will work or sound identical to the original keyboard. Import tests check whether file structure, sections and events can be processed; musical fidelity includes the original instrument sounds, chords, effects and listening comparisons.

| Style format | Import tests | Musical fidelity | Evidence and limitations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yamaha SFF1 / SFF2 (including SFF GE) | Passed | Still testing | Development audit: 2,887 genuine-format styles parsed; 2,878 passed sampled rendering checks. XG/MegaVoice sounds, effects and some chord rules still need original-keyboard comparisons. |
| Korg Pa1X / Pa800 / Pa3X and tested Pa4X-era .STY | Passed | Still testing | 1,479/1,479 structural decodes passed, with chord-scheduling and playback-event checks. Original sound selection, chord voicing and live listening comparisons remain outstanding. |
| Korg Pa5X | Not verified | Not verified | Direct Pa5X style-file compatibility has not been established. Results for older Pa generations must not be assumed to apply. |
| Roland legacy .STL | Passed | Still testing | 15 genuine Roland styles supplied for testing now pass structural, section-availability and instrument-mapping checks. Some sound patches need substitutes; final musical audition and hardware fidelity are not yet signed off. |
| Roland .STH | Experimental | Not verified | Initial structural test fixtures pass, but representative genuine-file coverage and listening validation are still needed. |
| Casio .AC7 | Passed | Still testing | 277 genuine-format styles passed import checks, including 160 older six-element rhythms. More work is needed on certain chord rules and original-keyboard sound reproduction. |
| Ketron .KST / MIDI-based styles | Initial tests | Still testing | Section and event extraction passed initial marked-template tests. Broad native-file coverage and musical fidelity are not yet established. |
| Technics KN5000 / KN7000 native styles | Not verified | Not verified | Original-format Technics files (including associated .CMP data) have not yet passed native decoding. Technics-origin styles previously converted to Korg .STY are not proof of native Technics support. |
Import support does not grant permission to copy, share or resell someone else’s content. Use content in accordance with its licence. Manufacturer style libraries are not included with ArrangerX unless distribution rights have been secured.
Your tablet. Your control surface.
Keep your playing controls within reach on a tablet connected to the same home network. The landscape layout is made for touch.
One master tablet controls each ArrangerX computer at a time. If you have several ArrangerX systems on the network, each can be paired independently.
Optional physical control
A downloadable ArrangerX skin/profile is being developed for compatible 15-key LCD controllers such as the SOOMFON Stream Controller Classic, giving live players tactile access to their performance controls.
Predefined layout at launch.
We plan to introduce customisable multi-page layouts in a future update, letting you choose each page's button functions and arrangement. Compatible controller hardware is sold separately.
Controller integration is currently in development. Compatible models and supported status-display functions will be confirmed after hardware testing.
Planned system requirements
Final requirements will be confirmed against the release build.

Windows and Linux. Development builds have been tested on Windows 11 and Linux Mint. Run the free computer check on your own setup before buying.
| System | Current position |
|---|---|
| Windows 11, 64-bit Intel / AMD | Primary development platform. Tested on the ThinkPad X1 Extreme, T450 and T460. Audio response depends on the computer, audio device and settings; testing continues. |
| Windows 10 | The diagnostic and current runtime are intended to run on Windows 10 version 1809 or later. Full ArrangerX release testing is not complete. Windows 11 remains the recommended platform. |
| Linux Mint 22.3, 64-bit | ArrangerX’s Linux compatibility build has run on the ThinkCentre M93p using Wine 9.0. This is a Wine-based build, not a native Linux application. |
| Other Ubuntu-based Linux desktops | May work with the compatibility package, but have not all been tested. Run the Linux check on your exact installation. The current download is an amd64 .deb and requires Wine 9 or newer. |
| Mac and Windows ARM / Snapdragon | Not yet verified for release. Do not assume compatibility from another computer’s result. |
Screen space: smaller screens use a compact layout. The multi-bar display needs more usable screen space than 1366 × 768; display scaling and the taskbar can reduce that space. The free check tells you what to expect.
Audio: a successful computer check is a useful guide, not a measurement of the complete delay from pressing your keyboard to hearing your speakers. Try your own keyboard and audio setup when a trial is available.
Current interface
Captured directly from the Windows development build on 9 October 2026. Screens show example user-loaded content; pictured styles are not a promise of bundled content.

In conversation with Leigh Buxton
Five questions about the idea behind ArrangerX V1, the design choices that shape it, and why the music always comes first.
01
I’ve been searching for decades for something I can simply use to play music live. Time after time I ended up buried in menus and completely distracted from the original intention: sitting down and playing music.
I’ve owned several arranger keyboards over the years, and they’re the only instruments I know where you can switch on, sit down and start playing without having to go through various settings first. ArrangerX grew out of wanting to preserve that experience in software.
02
I want it to feel as though you’ve just switched on a flagship arranger keyboard. It should be like driving a very expensive car: all the technical complexity is there, but it’s hidden away under the bonnet.
It should work effortlessly and reliably. No complicated procedures. Just sit down and play.
03
Anyone who wants a familiar, premium arranger experience at a fraction of the price.
Many players have built up SoundFont libraries and style collections over many years. ArrangerX gives those resources somewhere to stay alive and remain useful. Unlike a physical arranger keyboard, there’s effectively no limit to how many resources you can add.
ArrangerX V1 is purely about enjoying the performance side of making music. It is intentionally clean and simple. There are other features that live performers would benefit from, and those are something we intend to address separately in the future.
04
It is deliberately kept simple. It’s for people who want the minimum possible distraction and don’t want barriers getting in the way of making music.
Everything in ArrangerX has to justify its existence. If it can’t, it doesn’t belong in the software.
That is why you won’t find things such as VST hosting or a traditional sequencer in ArrangerX V1. There are already excellent tools for those jobs. ArrangerX has one job: let you play.
05
I hope they simply say that it was an enjoyable experience, and that for the whole time they were using it they were entirely focused on what really matters:
the enjoyment of the performance.
